Teacherless observations

Abstract

Purely by accident, a program leader stumbled on an observation method that allows students and teachers to monitor the degree to which students can self-direct their learning during a class. The only requirement for teachers is that they are not present during the observation. Therefore, the observation is about the students, and about how well the students can self-direct.
